Silicons are a special faction that is neither crew aligned, nor an antagonist. Rather, they follow their laws above all else.

== Laws ==
Typically, silicons will have a set of laws that ensure loyalty to a specific group, such as NanoTrasen, the station's crew, the syndicate, or a specific person. '''A lower-numbered law always takes precedent over a higher-numbered law.''' If law 1 requires you to protect a crew member, but they attempt to use law 2 to order you not to, law 1 would apply since it is a lower number. The most basic lawset is crewsimov:

# You may not injure a crewmember, or through inaction allow them to come to harm
# You must follow any orders given by a crewmember, unless it conflicts with a previous law
# You must protect your own existence, as long as it does not conflict with previous laws.

Borgs spawn with an extra law 0, requiring them to follow the station AI's orders.

== Altered Silicon ==
Occasionally, a silicon can be randomly affected by an ion storm, randomly replacing laws with new, random and chaotic laws.
